IBC
12-15 September, 2025Amsterdam, Netherlands
In a few short weeks, IBC 2025 will open its doors in Amsterdam (12–15 September), bringing together the global media community under the theme “Shaping the Future.” For over 50 years, IBC has been the epicenter of conversations that explore the next chapter of broadcasting, streaming, and content innovation.
With 14 Innovation Halls, future-focused sessions on AI, IP workflows, emerging monetization models, and the industry’s most influential players, IBC2025 is where the sector’s challenges and boldest ideas converge.
For Lumine Group, IBC is an opportunity to reconnect with industry peers and stay close to the conversations shaping the next phase of growth.
Ahead of the event, our M&A team members share their insights on this year’s theme and how they’re witnessing developments driving the media landscape.
IBC’s theme this year, Shaping the Future, highlights the technologies and ideas redefining the media landscape and how quickly they’re moving from concept to commercial impact. We’re seeing cloud-native workflows enable faster, and more dynamic content delivery, AI supports everything from production automation to personalized viewing, and OTT streaming expand into hyper-local and niche content models. Meanwhile, immersive experiences like AR, VR, and mixed reality are continuing to redefine how audiences engage with storytelling.
For Lumine, these focus areas align closely with what we’ve observed across the industry and within our global portfolio. What we’re seeing across the industry is how these developments are pushing businesses to innovate, simplifying workflows, accelerating time to market, and creating richer audience experiences. These advancements signal where growth is accelerating and where opportunities exist for companies prepared to lead the next chapter of industry transformation.
Shaping the future isn’t just about anticipating what’s next, it’s about identifying the companies that can apply innovation and build sustainable growth. The businesses that stand out are the ones that combine cutting-edge technology and deep customer insight with the discipline to scale.”
— Arjan Stroomberg, SVP, Head of M&A, Lumine Group
As AI reshapes workflows, infrastructure must keep pace. The shift toward cloud-native and IP-based production isn’t slowing down and at IBC, that evolution will be front and center.
Unique to IBC is the Technical Papers Programme, where sessions on peer-reviewed, original research will tackle real-world challenges spotlighting AI in postproduction, content creation and speech, advances in 5G, and explorations of 6G reinforcing that the future of content delivery depends on infrastructure that can flex and scale.
For growth-minded media companies, technology decisions aren’t just about cost, they’re about capability. Whether it’s modernizing infrastructure, adopting IP workflows, or rethinking operational models, the goal is the same: faster time to market, seamless collaboration, and greater resilience. While each organization is on its own path, investing in flexible, scalable systems is increasingly seen as a cornerstone of long-term competitiveness.
Examples from our ecosystem illustrate this in practice. Velocix leverages hybrid-cloud CDN and 5G edge-cloud deployments to scale elastically while reducing latency and costs. WideOrbit’s cloud-hosted ADO engine and modular WO 20 Max framework empower media companies with customizable monetization solutions. These implementations show how agility is now embedded into production and distribution infrastructure.
We’re in the middle of a shift that’s changing how media companies work and grow. New tools and infrastructure are unlocking ways of collaborating, creating, and scaling within the space.”
— Elliot Yunger, SVP Head of Corporate Development, Lumine Group
OTT and streaming services continue to reshape media consumption, delivering content anytime and anywhere. For media companies, this means prioritizing seamless delivery, flexible content licensing, and viewer engagement strategies that work across multiple devices and platforms.
Ad-supported streaming (FAST) is gaining momentum, providing budget-conscious viewers with alternatives to traditional subscription models. This shift is creating opportunities for companies to reach broader audiences while exploring new monetization strategies.
Wiztivi, part of Lumine’s media ecosystem, helps broadcasters and operators accelerate app development with its no-code Timeless platform. The solution enables rapid deployment of branded TV and streaming apps, giving teams control over UX, content discovery, and platform integration—supporting faster launches and consistent viewer experiences.
OTT and streaming are central to how audiences experience content. The companies that succeed are those combining innovative delivery with a clear understanding of their viewers.”
— Connor Ennis, Senior Director, Corporate Development, Americas, Lumine Group
It’s no surprise that AI continues to be a defining theme, as its an active part of today’s media workflows. AI is being used to help media companies work more efficiently and engage audiences in new ways. Over the past year, we have seen it streamline postproduction, enable more personalized content, and optimize delivery workflows, all while supporting creativity and maintaining high-quality standards.
For media companies, the conversation remains, where can AI create efficiencies, and how can automation drive that efficiency while unlocking new ways to create and distribute content. Recognizing these opportunities, companies within the Lumine ecosystem have begun integrating innovative approaches into their operations, offering practical examples for others navigating similar changes.
Vidispine’s AutoCut feature, integrated into MediaPortal and VidiEditor, allows media professionals to identify and edit the most relevant video segments with minimal manual effort, streamlining workflows while preserving editorial control. This year, Vidispine is also highlighting additional AI integrations capabilities like natural language search, speaker recognition, transcription, and automated moderation are reducing manual effort and making it easier to navigate large archives. These tools are helping teams work faster, smarter, and more efficiently across growing volumes of footage.
The real opportunity with AI is integration. It’s about embedding intelligence into workflows in a way that improves efficiency without creating complexity.”
— Darren Smith, Director, Corporate Development, EMEA, Lumine Group
