Future Leaders Scholarship – 2025 Scholarship Recipients
At Lumine, we believe that today’s students are shaping tomorrow’s future. We are proud to announce the recipients of the Future Leaders in Technology and Business Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. This scholarship supports students enrolled at Canadian post-secondary institutions who demonstrate financial need, show a strong commitment to shaping the future of Business and Finance, and are actively making a difference in their communities.
Azka K.
Azka is a Masters of Management & candidate at the Ivey Business School, Western University, where she is learning how to drive impactful changes. Along with a full-time degree, she also works as an Engineering Manager at a large Canadian bank. She enjoys helping people advance in their tech careers and is passionate about crafting smart, equitable technical solutions that solve real-world problems.
Outside of school and work, she mentors new immigrants to Canada, specifically focused on Women in Tech, and volunteers with a Multicultural Network committee where she helps create spaces to recognize and develop diverse talent. She is an advocate of holding space for people and curating experiences where everyone feels like they belong.
Havva L.
Havva is a second-year student at the Schulich School of Business at York University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration with an interest in specializing in accounting. She is drawn to the field for its strong analytical foundation and its ability to shape effective decision-making in both business and community settings.
Beyond academics, Havva is committed to giving back through volunteer work. She contributes her time at a local tax clinic that provides free personal tax preparation services for individuals with low income and others in need. This experience has deepened her understanding of how financial knowledge can empower communities and reinforced her passion for pursuing a career in accounting.
Outside of her studies and volunteer work, Havva is an athlete who enjoys playing sports, which have helped her develop teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills. With the long-term goal of earning her CPA designation and eventually opening her own firm to support individuals and small businesses, Havva aspires to use her skills to create meaningful impact.
Janvier S.
Janvier grew up with a strong conviction: education can transform lives. Janvier currently studies at the Université de Montréal, where he is pursuing a master’s degree in mathematical and computational finance.
Alongside his courses, Janvier works as a teaching assistant and mathematics tutor. He is also actively involved in mentorship projects for young people from underprivileged backgrounds, notably through on-site Campus programs. He enjoys making complex concepts accessible and inspiring the next generation of students.
His research interests focus on portfolio optimization and financial risk management in uncertain environments. Janvier hopes to contribute concrete mathematical solutions applicable to both North American and African markets. Grateful for the support he receives, he sees the scholarship as an added responsibility to give back to his community. His long-term ambition: to become a driver of change in education and finance in Africa, while actively contributing to the Canadian technological ecosystem.
Layla D.
Layla is a nehiyaw iskwew (Cree woman) from Onion Lake Cree Nation in Treaty 6 Territory, with mixed settler ancestry. She is currently pursuing her Executive MBA in Indigenous Business Leadership at Simon Fraser University, where her studies focus on advancing Indigenous economic frameworks, governance, and leadership with a particular emphasis on nehiyaw laws, values, and principles as the foundation for leadership development.
Alongside her academic work, Layla brings extensive professional Indigenous-specific experience across the justice, education, and health sectors advancing anti-racist, rights-based, and culturally safe approaches to systems transformation.
Prarabdha B.
Prarabdha is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, pursuing studies in business and technology. He has always been drawn to understanding how data and systems can be used to solve everyday problems. At school, he has explored this interest through coursework in business analytics and hands-on projects involving financial modeling and data analysis.
Outside of academics, Prarabdha has gained experience working with organizations where he contributed to process improvements and learned how technology can drive efficiency. He also enjoys exploring personal projects, such as building small data-driven tools to analyze trends in areas like finance and technology adoption. Looking forward, Prarabdha hopes to contribute to projects that make technology more accessible and impactful for organizations and communities. For him, receiving the Lumine Group Future Leaders in Technology and Business Scholarship is both an encouragement and an opportunity to keep pushing toward this path with confidence.
